Support plans are one of the cheapest topics on the CLF-C02 to master. There are five of them, the differences are factual rather than conceptual, and the exam tests the same boundaries every time. Learn the ladder once and you collect marks in the smallest domain with almost no effort.

The five plans, as a ladder

Each plan includes everything below it and adds something:

  • Basic — free, on every account. Account and billing support, documentation, forums, and a core subset of Trusted Advisor checks. No technical case support.
  • Developer — the entry paid tier. Business-hours email guidance from a Cloud Support Associate, aimed at testing and non-production.
  • Business24/7 technical support by phone, chat and email, and the full set of Trusted Advisor checks. This is the production baseline.
  • Enterprise On-Ramp — adds a faster response for business-critical issues and access to a pool of Technical Account Managers.
  • Enterprise — adds a designated Technical Account Manager and the fastest response times.

The boundaries the exam actually tests

Three lines carry most questions:

  • Technical support starts at Developer. Basic has none. If a scenario needs help with a technical problem, Basic is out.
  • 24/7 support and full Trusted Advisor start at Business. This is the production line. Developer’s business-hours email is not enough for a live system.
  • A designated TAM is Enterprise. If a question names a designated Technical Account Manager, it is describing Enterprise.

The trap: don’t reach for Enterprise

Enterprise satisfies nearly every requirement, which makes it a tempting answer — and usually the wrong one. The questions typically ask for the lowest plan that meets a need, and the plan that qualifies is very often Business: it already has 24/7 support and the full Trusted Advisor checks. Read the requirement, then pick the cheapest tier that covers it. That single habit turns support-plan questions into free marks.

How to use the questions below

Answer each one before opening the explanation, then read past the correct letter to why the other three fail. The distractors are always the neighbouring plans — a tier too low to meet the need, or Enterprise offered where Business is enough. Placing a requirement on the right rung of the ladder is the whole skill here, and the reasoning below drills exactly that.

The five AWS Support plans as a rising ladder — Basic with account and billing support only, Developer adding business-hours email guidance, Business adding 24/7 technical support and the full Trusted Advisor checks, Enterprise On-Ramp adding a faster response and a pool of technical account managers, and Enterprise adding a designated Technical Account Manager and the fastest response.

CLF-C02 Question 1 of 6

Which AWS Support plan is included for every AWS customer at no additional charge?

Answer: A — Basic Support

Basic Support comes with every account at no cost — it covers account and billing questions, documentation, whitepapers, support forums and a core set of Trusted Advisor checks. Why not the others: Developer, Business and Enterprise are all paid plans that add technical case support and more. Basic is the free floor everyone starts on.

CLF-C02 Question 2 of 6

A company runs a production workload and needs 24/7 access to technical support by phone, chat and email. What is the lowest plan that provides this?

Answer: A — Business Support

Business Support is the entry point for 24/7 technical support across phone, chat and email — the right level for production. Why not the others: Basic has no technical case support at all, and Developer offers only business-hours email guidance for non-production use. Enterprise would also provide it, but the question asks for the *lowest* plan that meets the need, and that is Business.

CLF-C02 Question 3 of 6

Which support plan includes a designated Technical Account Manager (TAM)?

Answer: A — Enterprise Support

A designated Technical Account Manager — a named person who knows your environment — comes with Enterprise Support. Why not the others: Business and below do not include a designated TAM (Enterprise On-Ramp offers a pool of TAMs, not a designated one). Developer and Basic are well below that tier. 'Designated TAM' is a reliable Enterprise signal on the exam.

CLF-C02 Question 4 of 6

A developer wants technical guidance by email during business hours while experimenting in a non-production environment, at the lowest paid tier. Which plan fits?

Answer: A — Developer Support

Developer Support is the entry paid tier: business-hours email access to a Cloud Support Associate, aimed at testing and non-production work. Why not the others: Basic includes no technical case support. Business and Enterprise both provide far more — 24/7 support and beyond — which is more than a non-production experiment needs and more than the 'lowest paid tier' asked for.

CLF-C02 Question 5 of 6

From which support plan does the full set of AWS Trusted Advisor checks become available?

Answer: A — Business Support

The full set of Trusted Advisor checks unlocks at Business Support (and remains available at Enterprise). Why not the others: Basic and Developer include only a core subset of checks. And it is not exclusive to Enterprise — Business already provides the complete checks, which is exactly the kind of 'you don't need the top tier' point the exam likes to test.

CLF-C02 Question 6 of 6

A company needs 24/7 technical support and the full set of Trusted Advisor checks, at the lowest possible cost. Which plan should it choose?

Answer: A — Business Support

Business Support already provides 24/7 technical support and the full Trusted Advisor checks, so it meets the requirement at the lowest cost. Why not the others: Enterprise meets it too but costs far more, and adds a TAM and faster response the question never asked for. Developer and Basic fall short of 24/7 support. The exam repeatedly offers Enterprise as a trap when Business is the cheapest plan that qualifies.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the current CLF-C02 format?
Yes — these questions follow the CLF-C02 exam guide (2026 edition). Support plans sit in the Billing, Pricing and Support domain, which is 12% of the scored questions — the smallest domain, and one of the cheapest to master because the material is finite and factual.
Are these real exam questions?
No. They are our own questions, written in the style and difficulty of the exam. Reproducing real exam items violates the AWS certification agreement and can get your certification revoked, and a memorised item teaches you nothing about the one you have not seen.
Do I need to memorise every feature and price of each plan?
No. Learn the boundaries the exam tests: Basic is free with no technical case support, Developer is business-hours email, Business adds 24/7 support and the full Trusted Advisor checks, and Enterprise adds a designated TAM and the fastest response. The exact prices are not tested.
What is the trap the exam sets with support plans?
Offering Enterprise when Business is enough. Enterprise satisfies almost any requirement, so it is tempting — but the questions usually ask for the *lowest* plan that meets a need. Read for the cheapest tier that qualifies, and Business is very often it.
